About Curtain Fabric Calculator

Free curtain and drapery yardage calculator. Enter window/track width, finished drop, fullness ratio, and pattern repeat to calculate exact fabric widths, cut lengths, and total yards to buy.

What is curtain fullness ratio and how do I choose it?

Curtain fullness refers to the ratio of fabric width compared to the track or pole width. A 1.5x fullness provides a modern, casual look; 2.0x fullness (double fullness) is standard for pencil pleat and eyelet/grommet curtains; 2.5x to 3.0x provides deep, luxurious folds ideal for pinch pleat and formal velvet drapes.

How do you calculate curtain cut length?

Cut length = Finished Curtain Length + Header Allowance (typically 3 to 4 inches for heading tape or hems) + Bottom Hem Allowance (typically 8 inches for a standard double 4-inch bottom hem) + Pattern Repeat adjustments.

How do pattern repeats affect fabric yardage?

If your fabric has a patterned motif, every cut width must begin at the identical point in the pattern repeat so the prints line up horizontally across the window. Our calculator automatically rounds up each drop to the nearest full pattern repeat.

Frequently Asked Questions about Curtain Fabric Calculator

How many widths of fabric do I need for my window?

Multiply your track width by your desired fullness ratio (e.g. 70" × 2 = 140"), then divide by the fabric width (e.g. 54"). 140 / 54 = 2.6, so you need 3 fabric widths (1.5 widths per curtain for a pair).

Can I calculate curtains in metric (centimeters and meters)?

Yes! Toggle the units switch between Inches/Yards and Centimeters/Meters to calculate in your preferred system.
