Work out the earliest date a home pregnancy test can detect hCG, when your period is due, and the dates when results become most reliable.
Home urine tests detect hCG above roughly 10 mIU/mL, and that concentration is usually not reached until about 11 days after conception. Testing earlier catches the hormone while it is still below the threshold, so the test reads negative even when a pregnancy exists.
The whole calculation hangs off an assumed ovulation 14 days before your next period. A longer cycle means later ovulation, which pushes the missed period and every testing window later with it.
hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) is produced after the embryo implants, usually 6 to 12 days after ovulation. Home urine tests need roughly 10 mIU/mL, typically reached around 11 days after ovulation, and levels then roughly double every 48 hours, which is why waiting a few days turns faint lines clear. This tool maps those milestones to your dates; it cannot diagnose a pregnancy.

Around 21 days after ovulation the chance of a false negative is very low. If your period is late and an early test is negative, retest after a few days rather than concluding immediately.
Yes. First morning urine is most concentrated and gives the most sensitive reading, so testing first thing tends to detect lower hCG levels.
Most commonly 6 to 12 days after ovulation, with 8 to 10 days typical. Testing before implantation completes cannot detect anything, which is why the earliest testing date here sits at 11 days after ovulation.
